Envirolab Services (WA) Pty Ltd, trading as MPL Laboratories, is a leader in providing quality laboratory testing services for Occupational Health and Environmental assessments.

With a team of highly skilled and experienced scientists, MPL offers a wide range of NATA Accredited testing services for air, water, soil, sediment, waste and biological (urine) to support environmental monitoring, regulation, remediation efforts and human health.

The History of MPL Laboratories

For more than 30 years, we have set the bar for clients requiring environmental contamination testing. Combining science with the technology and a passion for delivering optimal laboratory testing services, we break through barriers to help our clients receive fast turnaround times or TATs and quality results

Our Beginning

With origins in Perth, capital of Western Australia, MPL Laboratories was founded in the 1980s

Reaching TOA New Height

2008

Reaching TOA New Height

In February 2008, MPL was the first laboratory in Australia to gain NATA accreditation for the analysis of diesel particulates, as elemental carbon by the thermal optical analysis (TOA) method in accordance with NIOSH 5040. This falls under NATA Chemical Testing Class 7.82, Workplace environment and hazards, sub-class .22 for Diesel particulates.

MPL Laboratories continued to grow as a business. The business expanded its geographic footprint and professional laboratory testing services by becoming part of the Envirolab Group.

Improved internal efficiencies during the year resulted in a significant reduction of our TATs from weeks at the start of the year to a consistent rate of 5 working days across the bulk of our analyses. This resulted in improved laboratory quality management as well as ensuring client satisfaction.

As we entered the 20s, we celebrated 15 years as part of the Envirolab Group. Having reached such a major milestone, are proud to have solidified our place as a leading laboratory in environmental contamination testing.

We hold ASPAC Accreditation for agricultural soil and plant analysis. Our NATA Accreditation now encompasses a range of tests including Acid Sulphate Soils and Acid Mine Drainage, many of our current Organic analytes including dioxins and furans in water; BTEX metabolites in Urine; and Thermophilic Amoebae speciation for Naegleria fowleri in water samples.

MPL Laboratories has accreditation with the National Association of Testing Authorities (NATA) in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025 (2017).

NATA accreditation provides independent assurance of the laboratory's competence to perform specific tests and analyses. This involves thorough review of the laboratory's quality management system, staff qualifications, equipment, and methodology with on-site assessment by NATA.

Having maintained accreditation since 1987, you can be confident in our industry knowledge, management systems and capabilities in chemical and biological testing for hundreds of different test methods.

A member of Australian Soil and Plant Analysis Council (ASPAC), MPL Laboratories holds ASPAC Accreditation for acid sulphate soils (ASS), soil particle size (PSD) and agricultural soils.

ISO Certification

An effective quality management system, which is also an internationally recognised standard, demonstrates our culture of continuous improvement.

MPL Laboratories has ISO certification for ISO 45001:2018 and ISO 14001:2015 for Health and Safety and Environment Management systems; ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 27001:2013 for Quality and Information Security Management Systems and ISO 17025, the main ISO standard used by third-party laboratories to demonstrate competency in operations and the ability to generate quality results.
