NATA Accreditation Extended to Acrylamide in Soils by LC-MSMS

Envirolab Group is proud to announce that MPL Laboratories has received a further extension to its NATA Accreditation. The laboratory is now accredited to analyse Acrylamide in soils using LC-MSMS, a specialised capability only a few labs in the region possess.

Acrylamide is a highly mobile substance that can readily leach into soil and water, making its detection crucial for environmental monitoring and risk assessment. With this new capability, MPL Laboratories can now provide valuable in-house services to clients operating in the management of solid waste arising from mining activities, sewerage treatment, and other industrial processes.

This accomplishment complements MPL Laboratories' existing NATA Accreditation for Acrylamide in water by LC-MSMS, further strengthening our expertise in this area. We would like to express our gratitude to our Group Organics Manager, Dave Williams, and the Organics department for their tireless efforts in achieving this accreditation.

To learn more about MPL Laboratories' new capabilities or to inquire about our services, please contact us directly at 08 9317 2505 or send an enquiry.

About Acrylamide

Acrylamide is a chemical used primarily to make substances called polyacrylamide and acrylamide copolymers. Highly soluble in water, Acrylamide has become useful in an extensive range of manufacturing, industrial and mining processes. It is used in making paper, dyes, plastics, oil drilling as well as in the treatment of drinking water and sewage. Acrylamide can be found in consumer products and some adhesives.

Acrylamide can form naturally in some foods, particularly those high in the amino acid asparagine, such as potatoes and grains, when they are cooked at high temperatures. Common foods that may contain measurable levels of acrylamide include hot chips (French fries), potato chips, breakfast cereals, toast, and coffee. Acrylamide is also present in cigarette smoke.

About NATA

The National Association of Testing Authorities (NATA) is a government-recognised Australian accreditation body that provides independent assurance of technical competence for customers who require confidence in the delivery of their products and services. NATA achieves this through a peer review process conducted by a network of best practice industry experts.

More information about NATA can be found at the NATA website

Significance of NATA Accreditation

NATA Accreditation ensures that facilities are competent, impartial, and operate with integrity. This accreditation provides customers with confidence in reports, certificates, and conformity statements by ensuring the traceability, comparability, validity, and commutability of results.

The current scope of accreditation of MPL Laboratories can be found in the NATA website directory for chemical and biological testing.

MPL Laboratories recognises the First Peoples of this nation and their ongoing connection to culture and country. We acknowledge First Nations Peoples as the Traditional Owners, Custodians and Lore Keepers of the world's oldest living culture and Australia's first chemists.
